Using LEGO® to teach kids engineering and coding has proven to be fun and effective. Children are familiar with these building blocks and enjoy learning how to bring their creations to life with software. LEGO® developed an easy to code software platform for educational purposes called MINDSTORMS® and for the younger kids, LEGO® BOOST Toolbox. We are continuing to work with LEGO® to provide feedback for continuous improvement of our course materials and their robots.
Students will build robots using NXT LEGO® parts, sensors, motors, and MINDSTORMS® software. They will learn how data is collected from inputs (controllers and senors) and processed by the software to provide outputs (motor reactions). Basic software integration is taught.
Students will build on the knowledge from the intro robotics class using the same NXT LEGO® parts, sensors, motors, and MINDSTORMS® software. They will add additional software features and work with more functionality with the robots using traditional control systems feedback loops.
Advance Robotics/Artificial Intelligence:
Students will build on the knowledge from the Intermediate robotics class and apply advance software techniques to their robots. Machine learning via Artificial Intelligence(AI) is explored. Students will explore advance calculations and how AI is used to learn or store expert knowledge, thus improving traditional control system theory.
Our tutors can help organize and train teams interested in participating in the 2018 FIRST® LEGO® LEAGUE® "HYDRO DYNAMICS SM" Challenge and FIRST® LEGO® LEAGUE® JUNIOR "AQUA ADVENTURE SM" Challenge.
