Teen Studio/Portfolio Development for ages 11 to 18.
Teen Studio Art focuses on students who simply are looking to learn art making skills with enjoyable yet focused instruction in a relaxed environment.
Portfolio Development is also for students, 5th, 6th, and 7th graders, looking to create a body of quality art work to present during auditions at NYC specialized Art High Schools such as Frank Sinatra High and LaGuardia High School for The Arts, as well as students planning to present quality art portfolios to other public AND private high schools with quality Fine Art programs who look for applicants who can meet their art department’s requirements.
Teen Studio/Portfolio Development classes are also applicable for high school juniors and seniors preparing to apply to art colleges.
It is important to note that creating a quality body of portfolio level Art can take a year or two, or more, to achieve depending on how devoted and motivated the student is to their art process and growth.
In Teen Studio Art/Portfolio Development Fine Art classes, ages 11 to 18, students will continue to develop and build upon skills of drawing and painting through a more in-depth exploration of line, shape, form, and color. Lessons are designed to expose students, beginner through advanced, to Fine Art concepts and skills while incorporating a variety of diverse materials that working artists use in their art.
AIAVAP pedagogy is to teach Fine Art lessons in a sequence that continues to build upon prior lessons and semesters, no matter how advanced the student’s level is. However, we are mindful that our students have different levels of art making skills. This is why we individually critique students during every lesson.
All teaching faculty have BFA (Bachelors of Fine Art) degrees or higher, are practicing artists, and highly qualified with significant training in AIAVAP’s pedagogy of Fine Art Education by founder/director, educator Angela Tripi-Weiss.
