Portfolio PREP 10-week intensive classes are for 8th graders preparing for auditions to NYC specialized Art High School auditions in November of 2020, such as Frank Sinatra High for the Arts and LaGuardia High School for the Arts, and for presentation to public AND private high schools looking for applicants who can meet their art department’s requirements. This class is applicable for high school juniors and seniors preparing to apply to art colleges.
NOTE: 8th graders registering for our 10-week intensive are students who have already created a body of art works over time prior to the 8-week prep class and have intermediate to advanced Fine Art making skills.
AIAVAP staff will focus 8th grade students on refining prior art work created for their portfolios as well as the creation of additional artwork to supplement what is needed in order to demonstrate diversity, a greater understanding of techniques, and mediums in the student's portfolio. We will guide them through the process of choosing the best works of art to present at Art High School auditions.
We will also prepare 8th grade Prep students for the 3 drawing tests all NYC Art high schools administer during the auditions.
Lessons are designed to expose students to Fine Art concepts and skills while incorporating diverse materials that working artists use in their art. AIAVAP pedagogy is to teach Fine Art lessons in a sequence that builds upon each prior lesson. The sequence of learning skills and concepts will continue to empower students to communicate effectively with confidence through their experiences while being instructed in advanced skills and concepts of Fine Art drawing and painting! However, we are mindful that each student is an individual with different levels of understanding and art skills. This is why we individually critique students during every lesson.
Please select the option for Registration and NOTE: THERE ARE NO MATERIAL FEES FOR ONLINE REMOTE STUDENTS. A MATERIAL LIST WILL BE EMAILED TO ALL WHO REGISTER.
